The Best Home Remedies for Fever

The body’s natural response to bacterial, viral, and parasitic infections is fever; however, non-infectious conditions like deep vein thrombosis and vasculitis can also cause fever.  A fever can be described as having a body temperature higher than the normal range of 37.5 degrees Celsius and 38.3 degrees Celsius (99.5 and 100.9 degrees Fahrenheit). As your body temperature increases, you may feel cold and experience muscle pain. Usually, a mild fever does not require treatment, but you can treat the inflammation and pain it causes. The most common medicine for treating fever is paracetamol or ibuprofen. Children under the age of three can be treated by a doctor if they have some medical conditions. Basil

A household should have basil for its antibiotic properties. Basil tea is very effective in lowering fevers when consumed two to three times per day.To make basil tea, crush a few basil leaves and add them to one cup of water. Boil the water until it reduces to half a cup, and then add honey for taste. Drink it two to three times daily.

Garlic

Garlic has a number of health benefits. It has antibacterial and antiviral properties, which help lower the body’s temperature during fevers. It also flushes out toxins from the body and promotes sweating.To treat fever with garlic, mince a medium-sized clove of garlic and put it in a cup of warm water. Let it steep for 10 minutes, and then drink it twice daily. Alternatively, crush two garlic cloves, add two tablespoons of olive oil, and spread the mixture on the soles of your feet before going to bed at night. Leave the mixture on overnight. Garlic is an effective home remedy for fever, but it is not recommended for children and pregnant women.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Another great home remedy for fever is apple cider vinegar, which is said to draw out the fever.Take one part of apple cider vinegar and mix it with two parts water to make a diluted solution. Soak a washcloth in the solution and place it on your forehead. Another washcloth can be soaked in the solution and placed on the stomach. Do this a few times a day.

Ginger

Its antibacterial, antiviral properties make ginger an excellent remedy for fever, as we have already discussed. Ginger is a miracle spice and has many health benefits.For fever, you can drink ginger tea. Grate a small piece of ginger, then add one teaspoon to a cup of water. Add a little honey to the water and let it boil for a few minutes. Drink this ginger tea three or four times per day.

Sandalwood Paste

Known for its cooling and soothing properties, sandalwood will not only reduce your body temperature but will also reduce inflammation and calm your mind.Sandalwood paste should have a thick consistency. Mix 1 teaspoon of sandalwood powder with water, make a paste, and apply it to the forehead several times daily. Make sure the sandalwood paste you are using is of good quality.
